Senior Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist – Broome

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Senior Physical Therapists candidates must be:
• Permanent service as a Sr. Physical Therapist OR;
• Eligible to 70.1 transfer to a Sr. Physical Therapist title, OR;
• Reachable on the current Civil Service List for Sr. Physical Therapist, OR:
• Provisional appointment may be considered. To be eligible, you must be licensed and currently registered to practice Physical Therapy in New York State AND have one year of post licensure physical therapy experience.

Physical Therapists candidates must be:
eligible* for a limited permit OR have a license and current registration to practice Physical Therapy in New York State. After one year of satisfactory experience as a Physical Therapist, you will be advanced to Senior Physical Therapist without further examination.
* If you are applying under eligibility for certification or for a limited permit:
For college programs registered by NYSED or for American Physical Therapy Association Accredited Programs you must submit a copy of your college transcript with your NYS-APP.
For all other programs submit a copy of documentation from NYSED that it has found your professional preparation to be acceptable.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRPTION:
Senior Physical Therapists may supervise Physical Therapists and/or Physical Therapy Assistants. They serve as an advanced clinician who plan and conduct medically prescribed treatment for individuals receiving services utilizing all physical therapy methods. This position involves providing direct Physical Therapy as well as training new and current employees with DDSOO initiatives. This Senior Physical Therapist plans, carries out, and supervises physical therapy as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team and as a clinical supervisor: participates in program planning; evaluates the physical and neurological status of Individuals and plans individual treatment programs; plans and supervises the instruction of staff; and reviews and inspects the work of subordinates; administers the more difficult and critical procedures; performs and interprets results of tests and measurements of the individuals condition for use in preparing the treatment plan, modifying treatment and evaluating results of treatment; performs special tests to determine existence of conditions.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Functions in the role of a Senior Physical Therapist, and as a resource/consultant to the treatment team.
• Provide Physical Therapy Evaluations and provide recommendations to treatment team.
• Provide/Assist with Safe Patient Handling (SPH) training to new and current staff as assigned.
• Provide/Assist with Wheelchair Securement Training.
• Provide/Assist with Fall Prevention and Wellness Programs.
• Diagnose movement dysfunction and develop a treatment plan.
• Recommend appropriate assistive devices/adaptive equipment.
• Educate individuals, families, family care providers, treatment team members and other staff on a variety of exercises, safe transfer techniques and adaptive equipment/assistive devices.
• Attend team meetings, special case reviews and Life Plan meetings as needed.
• Complete documentation, billing and maintain records on individuals using the EHR.
• Supervision of PTA’s as assigned.
• Perform evaluations and quarterlies for the CIT and ICF
• Mechanical lift inventory/relocation and facilitates maintenance and repairs.
• Other duties as assigned.
