product manager principal – Service & Contact Center Technology (Seattle OR Remote)

This position contributes to Starbucks success by assuming end-to-end responsibility for the strategic value, usability, and performance of one or more of our digital products. This position acts as the leader and subject matter expert in delivering a rationalized and modern global technology platform for Starbucks contact centers and our IT Service Management. We design, build, and nurture a digital ecosystem that elevates the experiences and capabilities for our partners and customers. The primary platforms leveraged in this space are ServiceNow and AWS Connect but are not limited to these.

To be successful, the principal product manager, needs to be an expert in managing complex and ambiguous initiatives while managing cross functional expectations – including but not limited to: feature sets, problem areas, timelines, and change requests. They need to have a passion for building the right capabilities for our partners and our customers balanced with the analytical rigor to test, measure, and iterate to deliver on the best experiences and business value.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partners with business stakeholders on problem definition & drive alignment on business goals, UX goals and defining target KPIs for the feature.
  • Defines and builds the product strategy, influencing teams and leaders to gain alignment.
  • Builds and creates user flows/ experiences.
  • Directs non-functional requirements including performance, usability, accessibility, disaster recovery & business continuity.
  • May arrange demos and RFIs for vendor solutions; decision maker in solution/vendor selection; responsible for influence and align with cross-functional teams.
  • Determines technical feasibility, dependencies, and constraints of features with support from neighboring technology teams as needed.
  • Effectively partners, collaborates, and influences at all levels to position and support complex engagements.
  • Prioritization and ownership across multiple deliverables and cross-team initiatives.
  • Perform Feature Readouts with 2nd level insights (broader and deeper hypothesis driven complete analysis) per measurement plan, identify proxy data sources as needed to troubleshoot issues.
  • Able to manage tradeoffs on scope, resources, timeline on multiple, complex feature sets.
  • Creates product update communications independently varying from release announcements to content for executive review and decision making.
  • Stays abreast of new technology capabilities and leverages knowledge in contributing to product solutions. Recommends and plans innovative products and features.
  • Partners with technical product managers and/or engineering to scope and prioritize upcoming projects into the roadmap.
  • Manages a cross-team product roadmap.
  • Builds effective relationships with key stakeholders and cross functional teams.
  • Directly communicates and influences alignment of feature sizing and delivery planning with stakeholders; communication is typically at Steering Committee level and above.
  • Presents and leads alignment of tradeoffs with decision makers, typically at Steering Committee level and above.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to use analytics and optimization tools to inform product planning and prioritization (5+ years).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with design and engineering to deliver customer facing features (5+ years).
  • Hands on experience in developing roadmaps, priorities, features, story outlines, writing user stories, and coordinating/prioritizing conflicting requirements in a fast-paced, changing environment with variety of stakeholders (7 years).
  • Managing product delivery and release in an agile environment (3 years).
  • Industry experience in a technology environment with a record of successfully delivering complex products (10+ years).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years experience coaching and mentoring other team members.
  • Detailed and results-oriented, able to analyze data to justify product decisions and apply key learnings.
  • Exhibits expertise across multiple products and an ability to build and maintain close relationships with stakeholders to drive efficiencies.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand complex business and technical issues and influence decision making.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities.
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills.
  • Consistently uses communications skills to influence outcomes.
  • Ability to influence others without authority to get things done in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of agile/scrum methodology and user centric design; may be certified product owner; may collaborate with PMO/scrum master on project methodology to highlight issues and help as needed for product lifecycle.

The pay range for this position may be narrower than that displayed, depending on where the work is performed.
