As part of our highly collaborative design team, you’ll work alongside user researchers, engineers, and product designers who value creativity, open idea sharing, and fun while working towards a common goal of creating products that our millions of users will love.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be a well-rounded and experienced product designer with a proven track record of innovative thinking and driving new ideas through design. You’ll have the ability to conceptualize the big picture while driving detailed design development for collaboration and communications user experiences.
As a key member of our team, you’ll collaborate with other design teams at Microsoft to drive shared experiences inside and outside of the Teams app and improve the product’s general craftsmanship in a tactical way across mobile and desktop. You’ll work closely with developers to implement high-quality, well-crafted, design-led initiatives.
We’re looking for someone who can articulate their thinking using a variety of mediums, from design mocks to detailed prototypes and specifications. Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end experiences and mentor team members, providing feedback on design thinking and framing problem space for discussions.
- Set context for problem space, align stakeholders, communicate with critical stakeholders, and provide team leadership.
- Partner with engineering for successful design implementation, challenge limitations, and adjust engineering schedules.
- Ideate solutions for complex design problems and advocate for design solutions.
- Be self-directed and highly organized with a strong eye for detail.
Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
- OR Master’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design
- OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).
- Product and interaction design experience.
- Diverse portfolio demonstrating your experience creating user-centered design solutions.
- Experience working with users, running studies, or collaborating with researchers.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Figma.
- Ability to prototype.
- History of collaborating with engineers to implement and test solutions.
- Persuasive communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience designing cross-platform experiences.
Product Design IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 – $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 – $238,600 per year.
