The Academic Partnerships team creates a durable, predictable, and low-friction environment for Amazon businesses to engage with top-tier and minority-serving research institutions. We build and maintain relationships that are foundational to establishing Amazon’s reputation as a pre-eminent research leader, a trusted partner capable of building productive, outcome-based academic partnerships, and an employer of choice for science talent.
Key job responsibilities
– Own the external relationship with a Hub(s) on behalf of our internal stakeholders and drive Academic Partnership activities. This includes events, communications, and reporting on strategic investments to program stakeholders and leaders.
– Manage research project and academic community engagements on behalf of cross-functional business teams that include recruiting, legal, marketing, public relations, and technical and non-technical contributors.
– Define, track and monitor progress against annual Hub activity plans. Analyze and report on overall relationship health using key performance indicators and success metrics by Hub, and be able to accurately and clearly report on status against program objectives.
– Partner with the broader Academic and Strategic Recruiting teams to build and maintain a strong pan-Amazon research community.
– Assist Hubs Business Development in identifying and executing new academic partnership opportunities.
– Partner with Business Ops PM to report in MBR/QBR/Page0 by delivering KPI data and reporting on Hub health
A day in the life
As a Senior Partnership Success Program Manager, you will be responsible for driving research, recruiting, reputation, and retention metrics by strengthening Amazon’s strategic partnerships with top-tier research institutions. You will partner closely with leaders and scientists across Amazon and our academic partners to develop and execute research engagement plans, drive internal and external communications, plan and execute workshops and research symposiums, and oversee the award of research and PhD Fellowships funding.
You’ll partner with other Partnership Success PMs to identify and implement best practices, create opportunities for cross-hub collaboration, and ensure business customers are taking a strategic approach to research investments.
About the team
The Science Design Leadership Recruiting and Academic Programs team (SDLAP) focuses on building specialized talent communities in Design and Applied Science Research, including Product and UX/CD Design, Machine Learning (ML), Computer Vision, Speech Recognition/Natural Language Processing, Optimization, Economics, Sustainability, Hardware, Data Science and Robotics globally at Amazon. As a core talent function, recruit senior leadership and build teams in emerging fields, manage Amazon’s research relationships at top-tier academic institutions, we curate Amazon’s presence at key gatherings, nurture the internal science and research community. We support development of new Amazon businesses, including Amazon Go, Amazon Healthcare and Kuiper, and keep state-of-the-art research and design at the forefront of Amazon’s more mature businesses.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of program or project management experience
– Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
– Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
– Bachelor’s degree
– Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
– 5+ years working with corporate/industry research partnerships.
– Knowledge of IP/research risks and experience partnering with IP Legal teams.
– Masters in Engineering/STEM, MBA, or equivalent experience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
