Senior Program Manager, Landing Gear and Component Management, Global Technical Operations, Amazon AIR

Amazon Air Global Technical Operation is seeking a Landing Gear/Airframe Component Repair Program Manager to lead and develop strategies relating to landing gear overhaul and airframe component repair programs. This role will support tech ops operations in both domestic and international locations. This position will have an opportunity to scale the landing gear overhaul/exchange program to a higher level and developing a new component repair business work stream. Additionally, the position will have the opportunity to support other airframe projects such as aircraft acquisition and acceptance activities globally. The individual is expected to partner with internal/external stakeholders and collectively ensure the landing gear overhaul/exchange program is performed using industry best practices and aligned with the highest level of safety. This individual will also have the opportunity to develop an industry leading airframe component repair work stream to support all current and future aircraft types in the Amazon AIR’s fleet. The position drives cost effective methods and efficiencies while focusing on aircraft/component reliability and quality. Vendor management will be a key element to success which will encompass establishing performance metrics, developing communication paths, workflow performance management, compliance, continuous improvement and setting clear quality expectations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor near/long term strategies to scale and grow the landing gear overhaul/exchange and airframe component repair operation (domestic/international)
  • Develop, manage, and optimize landing gear and airframe component repair business cycles with a cost-benefit analysis approach
  • Lead/participate in RFP and contract negotiation relating to landing gear and airframe component repairs
  • Represent Amazon Air Global Technical Operations with internal/external stakeholders on matters relating to landing gear and airframe component repairs
  • In partnership with internal/external stakeholders, develop and implement optimal quality audits and oversight at vendor locations
  • Develop, implement, and drive fleet reliability through robust maintenance processes
  • Utilizes dispatch reliability data and indexing to drive continuous improvements with Carriers and MRO as required
  • Develop, manage and apply performance metrics/scorecard to enable business result improvements
  • Participate in aircraft acquisition and acceptance activities
  • Travel up to 30% of time

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of program or project management experience
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6+ years or equivalent experience in a 14CFR 121 airline or 145 repair station in a supply chain/component repair vendor management/technical operation role
  • 5+ years of experience managing commercial aircraft landing gear and airframe component maintenance programs
  • Experience in maintenance contract negotiation/administration and RFP activities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
  • FAA Part 65 Airframe and Powerplant certificate
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • 10+ years of experience managing commercial aircraft landing gear and airframe component maintenance programs
  • Experience positively influencing work behaviors and relationship building
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Problem solving and analytical skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
