Job Summary and Mission

As a Senior Technology PM, you will be responsible for the successful end-to-end management of strategic initiatives that span projects across Licensed Stores and Channel Development to deliver enterprise-scale complex business systems to global operating units beyond North America. This position contributes to the continued re-invention of Starbucks and the accomplishment of its renewed mission.

The successful candidate must be a well-rounded leader who can drive and sustain collaboration with SBUX stakeholders across technology and business, especially within challenging and ambiguous areas. The candidate must be an experienced, self-starter project manager, who works independently, is comfortable coming into a role with an existing cross-functional team, possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and consistently provides team members with clear direction.

Must be comfortable with delivery through the complete technology project lifecycle, from analysis and design to development and test, deployment, and closure. Must proactively find and manage issues, risks, and change control processes, especially within their assigned projects but across the program interdependencies. The Sr technology PM must have strong oral and written communication. They must be comfortable presenting and leading through challenging conversations with all audiences, including individual contributors, team members, managers, and VP+ stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be passionate about learning, growing, and furthering their career through servant leadership and collaboration.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Technology PM, you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of projects within the program portfolio, manage assigned projects with clarity of context, and develop an understanding of cross-program portfolio dependencies.
  • Drive complex, cross-functional enterprise projects, leading multiple efforts simultaneously, with complexity and capacity-limiting factors.
  • Lead high-performing, cross-functional, distributed teams.
  • Work independently, without requiring day-to-day guidance from senior program management leadership.
  • Core project management duties include:
    • Shepherding the project through a formal approval and funding gates
    • Develop a project plan that consists of the following:
      • Detailed budget,
      • Timeline and schedule,
      • RACI and Resource plan,
      • Communication plan.
    • Managing project execution and delivery through the complete project lifecycle.
  • Ensure that project status reports are relevant, transparent, and add value.
  • Ensure the project financials are up-to-date, including forecasts and actuals.
  • Partner with relevant technology and Business hiring managers to ensure the project has the skillsets and capacity required for delivery.

Acumen and Learning Agility:

  • Understanding of Starbucks Technology program and portfolio management practices.
  • Expert-level knowledge of standards and practices for technology project and program lifecycle management activities and deliverables.
  • A clear understanding of project technical activities, including.
    • Solution analysis and design.
    • Enterprise, solution, and infrastructure architecture.
    • Build and Test, including Systems integration.
    • Data conversion and migration.
    • Environment management and building processes.
    • Deployment planning and execution.
  • Expert level understanding and experience in managing project financials.
  • Expertise in MS Project (Project Server) and at least one program portfolio management tool, such as MS Project Portfolio Management (PPM).
  • Advanced MS Office Product Suite skills, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Summary of Experience

  • Minimum of six years of experience as a project manager, with at least three years in an IT or software development setting.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing large Enterprise solutions.

• Experience in multiple industries is preferred.

  • Strong preference for candidates with extensive experience working on complex, integrated platforms.
  • Strong preference for candidates with a background in Agile.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required; a master’s degree is desired but not required.
  • Strong preference for candidates with a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or Management.
  • PMP certification is a plus but not required.
