Senior Project Manager (Water/Wastewater)

Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, has an exciting opportunity for a self-starting Senior Engineer & Project Manager to join us in supporting our Infrastructure Engineering Group. In this role, you will work closely with project managers and lead other team members to execute work involving engineering principals and other related activities for infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing the design of municipal wastewater and water facilities and maintaining and enhancing relationships with existing clients.

Detailed Description:

  • Lead project teams, including technical subject matter experts, in planning and/or designing a major engineering project and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies.
  • Manage and execute work on wastewater, stormwater, and water utilities planning, design, and construction projects.
  • Projects may include water distribution and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment, pipeline and pump station rehabilitation, and stormwater.
  • Successfully manage and deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Utilize internal project management tools and resources.
  • Review and analyze engineering data and reports.
  • Prepare technical deliverables (modeling reports, design reports, technical memoranda) documenting analyses, findings, and recommendations.
  • Present findings and recommendations to Clients through effective oral and written communication.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (subject matter experts, cost estimators, GIS, designers, and other engineers).
  • Lead and manage construction administration phases of projects including submittal reviews, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, pay application processing, direction/supervision of inspection staff, and change orders for ongoing construction projects.
  • Take technical and management responsibility for tasks and delegate effectively to junior staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of client fee proposals.
  • Participate in client development activities including attending and presenting project work at conferences.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field required, Master’s degree a plus.
  • Professional Registration in the State of North Carolina or the credentials to obtain registrations within six months is required.
  • Candidate should have at least 10 years of increasingly responsible, professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of municipal wastewater facilities, hydraulic modeling, planning studies, and design of wastewater conveyance infrastructure (pipelines, force mains, and pump stations).
  • The candidate should have the ability to successfully manage clients and projects in a collaborative fashion and interface with Brown and Caldwell’s local, regional, and national wastewater practitioners as well as help mentor junior staff.
  • Previous business development experience (writing winning proposals and successfully pursuing work) is a plus.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Proficiency in GIS is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred, MEP/Revit a plus.
  • Ability to focus on client needs while balancing multiple priorities including but not limited to project management, design, bidding, and construction management services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending on skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $137,000 – $187,000
