Qualifications:

- Doctorate in relevant field

- Experience with quantum error-correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional/Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate in relevant field AND 2+ years related research experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor.
- Experience participating in a top conference in relevant research domain.
- Proficient communication and collaboration skills.
- Detail oriented problem-solving skills.
Research Sciences IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 – $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 – $238,600 per year.

Responsibilities:
As the Senior Researcher you will develop novel approaches to fault-tolerance in quantum computing in collaboration with our world-class team of theorists and experimentalists, with the goal of accelerating our trajectory towards useful and resilient quantum computers. You will thrive in this role if you love qubits (logical and physical), quantum error correction codes, collaboration, creative problem solving, and if you are excited about building a scalable quantum computer.
