Our Containers team is part of the Global Technology Platform organization, delivering Walmart Cloud-Native Platform (WCNP) based on Kubernetes clusters. We are creating a seamless containerized app hosting experience for our app developers in multiple Public Cloud providers and Private Data Centers, as well as running the Edge program in Stores, Distribution Centers/Fulfillment Centers running WCNP on-prem.
We use Kubernetes as the foundation of WCNP and build & develop Walmart ecosystem integrations on top. Besides having a quickly growing WCNP footprint in US-based businesses, we’re rapidly expanding internationally as well – so our platform adoption is happening on an unprecedented scale. Containers team is strategically located across multiple US locations in California, Arkansas, Washington, New Jersey and also internationally in India.
What you’ll do…
- Assist in guiding small groups of 2-3 engineers, including offshore associates for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline.
- Troubleshoots business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; formulating an action plan; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation.
- Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management.
- Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
- Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.
- Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open-Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.
- Develop and support Walmart’s massive Kubernetes platform across public, private and edge computing environments.
- Build and improve our Kubernetes multi-cluster deployment product.
What you’ll bring…
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience at a startup, or mid to large sized company.
- Go programming language proficiency.
- Working knowledge in container and cloud native technologies – Kubernetes, Docker, other
- Prior experience developing or working with Cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OpenStack is highly desired.
- Prior experience developing or working with CI/CD or GitOps systems is highly desired.
- Knowledge of opensource tools like istio, Prometheus, fluentbit is good to have
- Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-a-code technologies like Ansible, Terraform, etc. is preferable

- You are comfortable with programming in GOLANG
- You write code that is testable and readable, and paying down technical debt regularly
- You’re always seeing ways to incrementally improve systems and remove unnecessary complexity
- You have Java programming experience
- You are no stranger to deploying/configuring/extending Kubernetes

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related field OR 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related field.

The annual salary range for this position is $136,000.00-$200,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:
– Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)
– Stock equity incentives
