Boeing Global Services is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Training Systems team in Hazelwood, MO or Mesa, AZ. Training Systems is responsible for the design, development, manufacture, and maintenance of training devices for a wide variety of military aircraft – everything from AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters and F-15 Fighters, to P-8 Anti-Submarine Aircraft.
The selected applicant will be a member of a high performing, collaborative Rotorcraft Training Systems Vehicle Simulation team. Specifically, the Software Architect will support the delivery of real-time, high fidelity training simulators for the AH-64 Apache. You will be responsible for the overall architecture of the software products we develop, assuring high integrity, high quality software that is maintainable and re-useable across all of our domestic and international product lines.
The team uses Agile methodologies to support all aspects of product development, including project management. The applicant will be required to actively support the team to continuously improve and develop innovative and creative solutions for our software products and the processes we use to develop.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software roadmaps; assuring the product roadmaps support the overall system and customer roadmaps
- Document and maintain the software product architecture
- Assure software test plans are developed and actionable, to include test equipment and test benches
- Coordinate with system architect peers
- Advise, assist, and check component architecture changes, supporting subsystem SME experts
- Define and reinforce software development best practices across the organization
- Mentor team members on all aspects of software architecture
- Drive software architecture decisions for portability, scalability, extensibility, and commonality
- Review and provide input for technical approaches
- Support and improve the proposal estimation processes

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance (Post-Start) is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- 3+ years of experience leading or managing software engineering activities
- 5+ years of experience following a software development life cycle (i.e., application development & support)
- Experience creating and documenting software architecture and designs
- Agile software development knowledge
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- C++ design pattern experience
- DevOps experience
- Experience working on either aircraft training systems or a modeling / simulation project
- Experience in real-time, near real-time, or embedded systems
- Experience in Distributed Training
- Familiarity with simulation standards such as Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), Distributed Mission Operations (DMO), and High-Level Architecture (HLA)
- Experience with mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams of junior and peer engineers
- Experience working with internal and external customers and suppliers.
Typical Education/Experience:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience)
- In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range for Experienced: $122,400.00 – $165,600.00
