Leidos is seeking a senior software engineer to join a small development team. The selected engineer will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the software development life cycle including: requirements definition and analysis, coding and implementation, system test, documentation generation and support.
The program is made up of CONUS and OCONUS teams who regularly interact across varying time zones. As a result, the candidate must have excellent communication skills and be flexible with regards to team work and tasking. A demonstrated ability to perform in cross-functional teams in order to achieve results in a timely manner is desired.
This is a technical position to support a wide variety of mission activities performed both locally and OCONUS. Candidates should have a background in software engineering best practices, object-oriented concepts and design, test driven development, unit testing frameworks, Java build environments, library dependency management, configuration management and integrated development environments (IDE).
Clearance Requirement : TS/SCI Polygraph active and in-scope is required for consideration.
Primary Responsibilities:
Actively participate in requirements identification, definition and analysis
Create detailed design documentation
Develop and test software to include writing meaningful unit tests
Propose changes to current Java infrastructure
Participate in code reviews with peers
Prepare and produce software components that are deployable with associated deployment documentation
Support production systems by helping to troubleshoot issues by analyzing log files and associated data
Required Skills, Education, and Experience: The ideal candidate will have strong problem solving skills, and must be able to communicate effectively and work in a collaborative team environment. This includes being experienced in recommending creative and sound technical solutions as well as reviewing and critiquing proposed technical solutions. Ability to self-motivate and work independently is a must.
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related subject along with 12+ years relevant work experience. Master’s degree and 10+ years experience or additional relevant experience/certifications will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Must be proficient in the following technologies and programming languages:
- Java, Spring, Hibernate, JNDI, JMS, JDBC
- Experience with the following web technologies
- JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, HTML, JSP, CSS, Servlets, Java RESTful web services
- Designing and developing microservices is a plus to include utilizing frameworks like Spring Boot and Node.js
- Scripting languages (Python and/or Perl)
- Relational database experience
- git (experience with version control systems)
- IntelliJ and/or Eclipse IDE
- Build tools like Maven or Gradle
- Linux (RHEL/Rocky) command line experience
Qualifications/Certifications (one or more preferred):
- Willingness to travel OCONUS to support software deployments and upgrades
- Experience integrating existing Java applications with AWS instances
- Experience with Android app development and security best practices
- Familiarity with Linux system administration (RHEL/Rocky)
Pay Range: Pay Range $118,300.00 – $213,850.00
