The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Product Owner (Harpoon) to lead an Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the design, development, test, and integration of the missile flight software for the Harpoon Block II Update program, located in St. Charles, MO.

The operational flight software is being modified to align with the expanding capabilities and functionality of the Harpoon missile. The project has a broad and growing customer base of both international and domestic customers. Engineers in this segment work in all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Harpoon Block II features an autonomous, all-weather, over-the-horizon strike capability. It is an ideal weapon for both anti-ship and land-strike missions. These versatile weapons can be launched from aircraft, ships, submarines or by mobile coastal defense vehicles. Boeing has been building and upgrading the Harpoon for over 40 years. Harpoon Block II missiles are used by 30 international allies. More than 600 ships, 180 submarines, 12 different types of aircraft and land-based launch vehicles carry Harpoon missiles today!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead an Integrated Product Team (IPT) of engineers – including software, guidance and control, navigation, and simulation – in the daily execution of a software development project.
  • Estimating and planning project schedules, tracking progress to plan, collecting metrics, and coordinating the software excellence on a set of agile development processes
  • Coordinate with a multi-discipline engineering team to design, develop, and deliver missile software to customers
  • Serve as product owner for the operational flight software suite of software products
  • Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
  • Connect with internal and external senior leadership through capability demonstrations of the software products, system technical review events, and program reviews
  • Train and mentor junior engineers; identify and promote knowledge sharing opportunities; and identify and achieve continuous improvement to processes

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (St. Charles, MO)

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications: (Required Skills/ Experience)

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
  • 5+ years of professional experience with real-time embedded software applications
  • 5+ years of professional experience with developing software using Object Oriented principles
  • Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications: (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Previous role that used an Agile software development process
  • Previous role that used Earned Value Management
  • Experience with Visual Studio, Jira, and git
  • Experience with Ada, C#, or C++
  • Experience with weapon and/or aircraft interfaces
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, and VxWorks operating systems

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $122,400 – $165,600
