Senior Sustaining Engineer, ATS

Your role in helping us shape the future:

In the Aircraft Technical Services (ATS) department, we manage the installation and support of Intelsat Inflight systems onboard multiple commercial aircraft types.

As an ATS Sustaining Engineer, you will work with talented engineers finding solutions to customer issues arising from installation or maintenance of commercial aircraft related to the Intelsat Inflight Connectivity platform. This schedule driven activity will help our Airline Customers meet their needs to keep aircraft in service accommodating the flying public’s desire for connectivity.

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Support Alteration or Repair development as proposed by customer airlines or internal as needed.
  • Accomplish detailed electrical design of aircraft equipment installations and alterations (antennas, avionics equipment, interior components).
  • Prepare and/or check documentation as necessary to satisfy customer, company and regulatory to highs standards & requirements.
  • Capable of doing Electrical Load Analysis for the Alteration or Repair if required
  • Prepare Engineering Authorizations in accordance with Sustaining Engineering processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to customer queries with timely helpful information during customer request.
  • Supports after hours coverage in cases of AOG and work stoppage.
  • Streamline the Sustaining Engineering process while maintaining the highest standards of safety and timeliness.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities across departmental teams.

You should definitely have:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in aircraft related engineering.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and other project and engineering related software
  • Knowledge of aircraft electrical wiring and repairs
  • Experience with EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems)
  • Safety first mentality
  • Customer Service mindset
  • The ability to communicate your ideas both verbally and via presentations
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including internationally, 1-5%
  • This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).

It would be nice if you had:

  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Prior experience with Configuration Management (CM), preferably Agile.
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations and equivalent foreign regulations

  • The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $150,000. In determining compensation, Intelsat considers factors including position scope and responsibilities, candidate’s work experience, education/training, skills, internal peer equity, as well as others when extending an offer.
