Job Description
Your Career
As a Senior Technical Marketing Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, you will play a key role in providing detailed technical information to our Federal Sector partners, customers, and internal employees relating to our SASE Solution, including Prisma SD-WAN and Prisma Access. In this role, you will work with cutting-edge technology, redefining the future of enterprise networking and security. You will develop and deliver technical training for Systems Engineers and document helpful technical notes for others. You must also be a self-starter, keen to learn and experiment with new technologies, be able to work independently and as a team player, identify sales needs, and address them as needed. The role requires some travel.
Your Impact
- Create and deliver technical content that informs the field and our Federal customers of new features, including tech notes, solution guides, white papers, etc.
- Develop and deliver competitive positioning strategies and answer specific questions relative to the product area
- As the subject matter expert, build relationships and help Federal customers, channel partners, and System Engineers with product-related questions and hands-on technical training
- Provide guidance and example code to partners and customers on how they can leverage our APIs/SDK
- Able to explain complex technical issues to non-technical people and have open discussions on network design, network security, and related technical topics
- Drive success of beta-customer trials and monitor the performance and quality of new releases after they are generally available
- Work closely with Product Management on product feedback for future improvements specific to Federal needs
- Review and create Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), review engineering functional specifications, and provide feedback
- Help with the Federal sales team’s success in customer trials, POCs, and escalations by assisting and configuring the product to the best use of its capabilities
Qualifications
Your Experience
- Must be a US citizen with active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance to perform responsibilities of role
- Must have extensive knowledge of TIC 3.0, FedRAMP & DoD SRG operational implementations
- Must have prior hands-on experience with SASE services and/or REST API-based cloud service operation
- Must have proven experience working and building services that are either used by and/or applicable to Service Providers
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols (BGP and OSPF primarily)
- Broad understanding of and ability to analyze and troubleshoot Internet applications and protocols. L1-L3 (ISO model) troubleshooting
- Troubleshooting VPNs (IPSec and SSL tunnels)
- Hardware troubleshooting for telecommunications equipment
- Python Programming
It is a plus to have the following skills/experience
- C, C++ Programming languages
- Knowledge to analyze PCAPs (via Wireshark and other tools)
- Advanced certification for network equipment vendors (e.g., JNCIE, JNCP, CCIE, CCNA, CCNP, CCA, etc.)
- Cloud deployment for AWS, GCP, Azure, or KVM-based solutions)

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $125,800/yr to $203,500/yr. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
