Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
In this role, you will interact with manufacturing engineers, product designers and test engineers to develop manufacturing systems that are highly available, secure, scalable, distributed and event-driven to support a wide spectrum of use cases.
Key job responsibilities
– Create define the system requirements and architecture as well as impact the service roadmap in a meaningful way. Make design decisions, think about tradeoffs and propose technical solutions.
– Establish and follow the best engineering practices and drive improvements in design, development and operations. Mentor and guide junior engineers on the design, development, troubleshooting and operational excellence.
– Design solutions to create a frictionless experience in consuming manufacturing data, enabling an easy way to author queries, graphs and reports
– Build a manufacturing data pipeline system
– Take ownership in maintaining the operational bar, including data security and quality
– Learn and educate others how to extract facts about manufacturing from the data we own
– Mentor and guide junior engineers on design, development, troubleshooting and operational excellence
– Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
A day in the life
As a Sr TPM will help solve a variety of technical challenges related to manufacturing the fleet of satellites, ground equipment and associated ASICs as well as mentor other scientists and engineers. Given that this is an early-stage initiative, play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology leaders within the team.

Be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that’s higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems that, haven’t ever been solved at scale before!

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
– 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
– Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
– Computer Science/Practical engineer or related experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– A curious self-starter with a proven track record of diving into unknown territory, learning new concepts, and pushing your comfort zone.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
