Role description:

The Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer / Project Manager would be a critical member of our Resilience Water Team and be expected to lead and manage project delivery within the municipal Water / Wastewater market of this region. This professional position offers significant growth opportunities for advancement as you manage delivery teams and build strong client relationships. You will be part of a dynamic team of engineers, leading water treatment process and mechanical design projects and helping our clients develop sustainable and equitable solutions to the challenges faced by the water industry.

Role accountabilities:

  • Manage and lead project/tasks and clients in the planning, design and construction of water/wastewater facilities including but not limited to treatment facilities, collections/distribution systems, and pump stations as well as creating construction documents, specifications, and handling construction oversight/administration for both new construction and for rehabilitation work.
  • Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for water and wastewater system assets including treatment facilities, pipelines and pump/lift stations using a variety of approaches and technologies.
  • Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations & analysis and utilizes design software to solve complex issues.
  • Meet established budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment; for project/task scope schedule and budget.
  • Work directly with clients to determine needs and provide solutions and may lead teams in the preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations.
  • Manage and lead the growth of client relationships.
  • Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineer & design/drafting technical staff.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
  • Management of a multi-disciplinary planning and engineering team, meeting project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
  • Collaborate with national leaders, ensuring organizational capacity is in place to deliver on projects in the area market.
  • Review design calculations and drawings, and coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines.
  • Support the expansion of the resiliency practice and Arcadis brand to new customers.
  • Engage with strategic stakeholders in the local market.
  • Ambassador for the local and national team, including representing Arcadis at conferences and other industry-related events.
  • Provide technical support to our team of highly skilled engineers while leading projects simultaneously and utilizing technical knowledge and experience to develop the team’s overall capabilities.
  • Some travel may be required to conduct project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • 10+ years of experience in water/wastewater treatment and related facilities.
  • Current PE license in Arizona or the ability to obtain reciprocity within six months of hire date.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with preparation and/or review of engineering plans and specifications to ensure that all aspects of project implementation are clearly conveyed.
  • Prior experience serving as a project manager for complex engineering or multi-disciplinary resiliency projects.
  • Detail-oriented, with experience in reviewing technical design calculations and construction drawings.
  • Experienced in the coordination of work with engineers of other disciplines.
  • Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Experience managing preparation of and reviewing and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Client relationship skills; including preparation and development of proposals and client management experience with a successful track record of delivering various engineering projects to the expectations of the client.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water/wastewater market.
  • Design, permitting and construction experience with water/wastewater treatment systems, distribution/conveyance, and pumping & storage facilities.
  • Excellent technical engineering and Project/Task Management skills in the Water/Wastewater practice area.
  • Project Management certification or an MBA.
  • Active participation in regional or national professional associations.

The salary range for this position is $97600 – 146400 / year.
