Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services firm located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.

Content & Creative Services (CCS) is responsible for creating compelling communications that support CPG’s strategic plan and our three lines of business. Using traditional and digital media, CCS will give voice to our work by broadcasting key messages, developing curricula, sharing information, and helping business partners drive engagement with the products, programs, and services that CPG offers.

The Senior Writer Health & Welfare Benefits will be responsible for developing and producing promotional, informational, and transactional communications for health-related benefits programs (i.e., medical, dental, disability, wellness, etc.) sponsored by The Episcopal Church Medical Trust (Medical Trust).

Effective performance of the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of relationship building and meaningful collaboration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and prepare client-related communications, including Annual Enrollment
  • Develop content for CPG’s external communications channels (e.g., newsletters, annual reports, press releases, etc.), highlighting the Medical Trust’s products, programs, and services
  • Develop communications about new product offerings
  • Prepare conference/webinar presentations for senior leaders
  • Review medical benefits guides, claims guides, and related policy guides and manuals
  • Create factsheets and related collateral materials
  • Prepare written client testimonials
  • Develop byline articles for senior leaders

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Prior healthcare benefits writing experience
  • Outstanding written and oral communications
  • Experience writing corporate communications, line editing, copyediting, and proofreading
  • In-depth knowledge of English spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Working familiarity with The Associated Press Stylebook and/or The Chicago Manual of Style
  • Ability to think critically and to clearly communicate abstract or complex issues, ideas, challenges, and solutions
  • A proven track record of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to quickly garner an understanding of the Medical Trust’s business, its operations, and its products, programs, and services

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BABS or combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years relevant work experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Commuting to the office, on average, three days a week. Extensive use of a computer keyboard is a demand of the position to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Hybrid (two days working from home, three days working in a standard office environment). Church Pension Group employees must maintain a professional, compassionate, and trustworthy work environment always. Salary Range: $90,500 – $117,600
