Description
The Convention, Sports & Entertainment Department seeks a well-qualified Service Lead Worker to lead and participate in the work of a crew responsible for providing set up, tear down, and cleaning of the Anaheim Convention Center. A Service Lead Worker is responsible for organizing, assigning, supervising, and reviewing all work of all staff involved in providing set up, tear down and cleaning of the facility.
Essential Functions
The following functions are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed functions and/or may be required to perform additional or different functions from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
- Plan, prioritize, schedule, assign, review and participate in the work of a crew responsible for providing set up, tear down, and cleaning of the Convention Center.
- Provide training, coaching and mentoring of staff and work with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Evaluate employee performance; conduct written and verbal performance evaluations and initiate disciplinary action with supervisor’s review and approval.
- Oversee and inspect the work of assigned crew; ensure work is accomplished in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner.
- Review event manifests; coordinate with event managers to determine proper set up for event; read plans and diagrams and direct the set up of chairs, risers, stages and other equipment.
- Receive requests from tenants; respond to emergency requests for service including room set-up changes, clean-up of spills and emptying of trash receptacles.
- Operate equipment used in set up, tear down, and clean up work, including forklifts, power sweepers, electric carts, city trucks and cars, front end loaders, high lifts and a variety of other related equipment.; train others in the use of equipment.
- Perform the full range of set up, tear down, and clean up duties.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
Experience in: Leading and performing journey level skills in the areas of set up, tear down, and clean up work in a large arena, convention center, or related facility.
Knowledge of: Principles of supervision and training; pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations including state fire codes; procedures, methods and techniques of event set ups and tear downs; tools, equipment and supplies used in providing comprehensive set up, tear down and cleaning services; safe work practices.
Ability to: Supervise and train assigned staff; work various shifts and holidays; be on call on an as needed basis; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
License/Certification Required: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License by date of appointment.
