Job Summary
This position performs duties related to the care and management of shelter animals, and administrative and customer service support.
Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
One year of experience, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Experience directly related to the work performed is preferred.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer employment physical.
Completion of required Incident Command System (ICS) courses in accordance with established Borough policy.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Processes, vaccinates and microchips animals.
- Receives and screens phone calls.
- Provides assistance to the public; processes adoptions and animal returns.
- Manages customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments.
- Inputs data into computer data base systems; retrieves, verifies, and corrects information from the computer system.
- Collects monies or processes credit cards for fees.
- Restocks shelter supplies.
- Mops floors; washes, dries and folds laundry; cleans food dishes and litter trays.
- Feeds and waters shelter animals.
- Cleans and disinfects kennels.
- Prepares clean kennels for occupations.
- Washes food and water bowls and litter pans.
- Provides assistance to the Veterinarian as needed.
- Euthanizes animals under staff oversight.
- Provides direction of shelter volunteers.
- Performs minor facilities maintenances; paints, changes filters, replaces light bulbs.
- Performs related duties.
Temporary and on-call employees for the Mat-Su Borough do not receive a benefits package. Following is a brief description of the only benefit provided to this class of employee.
Alaska Supplemental Benefits System:
The Supplemental Benefits System (SBS) is in lieu of Social Security and is mandatory. An employee contributes at 6.13% of gross wages, matched by the Borough (6.13%), on the present wage base of $132,900.

I understand that the schedule for this position will vary based on operational needs and the hours will be limited to less than 30 per week and 1,000 per 12 month period.
