Shelter Operations Manager- Each day is unique however general daily duties include but are not limited to, daily rounds to ensure all dogs are in good health, checking with animal care specialist on their assignments and any unmet needs for the day, assist with any customer service requests, work hand in hand with our intake facility communicating on any medical and behavior assistance, and fill in on Animal Care Specialist roles when needed.

Job Description
What You Will Do :
- Supervises daily operations of the dog adoption animal shelter to ensure the humane and proper care of animals in the shelter.
- Assigns work and delegates responsibilities to staff and monitors progress.
- Assists with other personnel activities of staff, such as hiring, training, performance appraisals, disciplinary matters, rewarding, and motivating. Cultivates strong working relationships and builds trust among team members.
- Provides counsel and education to the public and adopters regarding training, placement, and care of animals. Ensures safe interactions between the public and shelter animals.
- Performs daily rounds and inspections of the facility to ensure all animals are receiving the care they need, and staff and volunteers are following policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Ensures shelter and other work areas are maintained in an organized and clean manner.
Who You Are:
- Good organization, prioritization, analytical, and problem-solving skills in order to effectively supervise area of responsibility and attain goals set. Able to resolve difficult problems and situations.
- Good knowledge and understanding of practices, policies, and procedures pertaining to the operation of an Animal Services Facility or small animal shelter/kennel environment.
- Good knowledge and understanding of practices and procedures in the safe handling of all types of animals under varying conditions.
- Good knowledge and understanding of animal health problems and basic veterinary functions.
- Good knowledge and understanding of all County computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with staff, volunteers, and the general public. Able to communicate policies, practices, and procedures for clarity and understanding by direct reports and other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Skills
- High school graduate/equivalent.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in small animal (dog and cat) related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year supervisory or lead experience.
- Certifications required within one year of hire: Florida State Certification in Animal Euthanasia
