Shipyard Project Manager

A reputable ship repair company based in Chula Vista, CA is seeking a Shipyard Project Manager to join their dynamic team! As the Shipyard Project Manager, you’ll be in charge of leading and coordinating shipyard projects from start to finish. You’ll work closely with various teams, manage budgets and timelines, review blueprints, ensure high-quality work, and prioritize safety to ensure successful project completion.

In this role, you’ll have the chance to take ownership of your department, work closely with the company’s leaders, and be part of a supportive team tackling diverse shipyard projects. Pay Range: $100,000 – $120,000 DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Manage shipyard projects, including structural, welding, pipe, electrical, and sheet metal disciplines
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications, and ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Plan, schedule, and budget projects, and allocate necessary resources
  • Create and update project schedules using Microsoft Project
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop project specifications, plans, and quality control measures
  • Ensure project progress, resolve issues, and ensure timely completion
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration within the project team
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and promote a culture of safety
  • Evaluate project performance and implement corrective actions as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field preferred
  • 7+ years of shipyard experience or similar background in shipbuilding or ship repair
  • PMP Certification
  • Strong knowledge of structural, welding, pipe, electrical, and sheet metal disciplines
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documentation
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar project management software
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage paperwork effectively
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders
