Calendar and Compensation
- $75,914.85 – $101,701.79? (Classified Management Salary Schedule, Range 8.1)
- Master’s and doctoral supplements of $2,554.00 annually
- Bilingual (Spanish) signing incentive of up to $2,000.00 for new hires upon passing a test of Spanish fluency
- Staff have the choice of several HMO/PPO medical plans, including several plans that require no employee contribution for full family coverage
- 206 day calendar, 8 hours per day
General Description
Under the supervision of the Pupil Personnel Services, the Student Wellness Specialist is a licensed clinician that supports the overall socio-emotional health and wellness of students and supports the delivery of services to students who require mental health counseling services on a school campus.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
The Student Wellness Specialist assists in providing the pupil personnel services by assessing home, school, personal, and community factors that may affect a student’s learning; identifying and providing intervention strategies for children and their families, including counseling, case management, and crisis intervention; consulting with teachers, administrators, and other school staff regarding social and emotional needs of students, and coordinating family, school, and community resources on behalf of students.
Specific responsibilities may include:
- Assists in the coordination of the student wellness center and mental health supports
- Delivers individual and group counseling services to students:
- facilitates treatment groups based on need
- provides individual therapy for students with mental health needs, including initial assessment, treatment planning and developing goals of treatment for student utilizing evidence based practice interventions.
- Collaborates with site administration and other mental health providers to create an emotionally healthy school atmosphere for students.
- Assists with crisis intervention and school safety planning, including suicide assessments, triage due to a catastrophic event, and assisting students with severe trauma.
- Monitors student treatment services, manages referrals, and manages caseloads for self, interns and providers.
- Identifies resource needs and accesses outside providers to provide additional services based on student needs (healthcare, rental assistance, etc.).
- Assists with school wide events and programs.
- Supports parent communication and assesses family resources.
- Conducts site needs assessment and provides direct training to staff and facilitates outside trainers / speakers for families and teachers / staff.
- Maintains files and records while maintaining confidentiality; manages student counseling records and documentation of services.
- Develops reports as needed for agencies / school.
- Completes other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree and Master’s Degree in appropriately related field (psychology, etc.)
- License: LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC
- Bilingual Spanish desirable
- Experience in high school setting preferred
