Position Summary & Scope
Job Summary:
To help ensure cleanliness and enforce rules for the safety of patrons during public skating sessions/ice rentals as well as help coordinate efficient set-ups and tear-downs on OVAL ice surface and other areas of the Roseville Skating Center, including, but not limited to, banquet facilities, indoor arena, general lobby areas, grounds and other areas as assigned.
Scope of Responsibility:
This position works under the direct supervision of the Supervisor on duty and Facilities Manager. The Skate Guard has continuous public contact requiring tact, courtesy and good judgment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Arrive to each shift on time.
- Help ensure the safety of patrons.
- Help enforce rules of public skating and regulate admission to paid customers only.
- Cash handling and ability to effectively operate payment software.
- Answering of phone with general knowledge of facility programs and ice schedule in polite and respectful manner.
- Concession operations, prepare and serve concession items during public skating sessions or special events
- Help with on ice and other facilities set-ups and tear-downs based on direction of the Supervisor on duty.
- Assist in snow removal and other weather related situations.
- Appropriate dress as needed in regards to weather as well as designated attire that may or may not be provided by the RSC.
- Provide excellent customer service to OVAL and Skating Cener users and general public.
- Work collaboratively with fellow workers to ensure proper facility operations
- General cleaning of facility, including but not limited to sweeping, garbage removal, vacuuming, mopping, etc.
- Other duties as assigned or apparent.
Skills & Qualifications
Tools and Equipment Used:
- May be directed to operate equipment as directed by Supervisors. Tools/equipment include, but are not limited to, shovels, vacuums, mops, brooms, skate sharpening machine, skates, water hoses, and some lawn equipment, etc.

- Work independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.

The employee must frequently ( up to 70% of the time) lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally (less than 15% of the time) lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
