Why does the job exist?

The Social & Community Service Coordinator – Operational will:

  • Work with the Policy Program and Development Department to supplement eligible households with food support through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP);
  • Assist with research on available waivers, the impact to the communities of the state and work to communicate this information to the SNAP team;
  • Coordinate and attend meetings related to these waivers to ensure all stakeholders remain involved and informed of the project;
  • Assist with legislation by providing research, reviewing state/federal data and working with the public to ensure that feedback is received in regards to potential state rule changes.

How does it get done?

The Social & Community Service Coordinator – Operational is responsible for:

  • Assisting with research and analysis of legislative bills for impact to the programs the Human Services Department (HSD) administers;
  • Assisting with drafting and submitting various federal data and outcome reports;
  • Assisting with tracking and ensuring timelines are met for projects;
  • Participating and scheduling program meetings and conferences, including webinars.

  • Federal Agencies;
  • ISD Field Staff.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Exceptional customer service skills;
  • Experience conducting policy research;
  • Experience providing compliance and implementing ideas.
  • Minimum Qualification

    Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and two (2) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care.     Employment Requirements

    Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

    Working Conditions

    Office setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
