We are looking for a Social Media Editor to join us working across two of Reach’s national brands – Mirror and Express Online, this is a fantastic opportunity to drive web traffic, maximise engagement and increase brand awareness.
Reach Plc is the UK’s largest commercial news publisher. We’re home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News.
Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle – all targeted at US audiences.
We’re now entering a period of rapid growth, and are looking to add ambitious and dynamic talent to our teams.

This role is a office based working from our New York hub, we are therefore open to candidates commutable to New York. Please note in order to be suitable for this role you must be eligible to work in the US.
Job Description
What will the role involve?
You will find and pitch stories using analytics and tools to tell you what’s already trending, as well as finding the next big stories yourself. Editing and posting stories and videos on our social pages while coming up with new creative ways to drive traffic to our sites and grow our audiences.
You will be forward planning social media content and coverage, covering live events and breaking news on social media while monitoring the external landscape to identify trends – and communicate findings while sharing knowledge and best practice across the business, but particularly in the newsroom.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
An experienced journalist with in-depth knowledge of media law, you’re an excellent communicator who is able to sell stories with flair, passion and skill. You are a fast but accurate writer with excellent web and social skills and you are able to sell stories in the best way to appeal to our audiences.
You are a digitally savvy writer who is used to working within a fast-paced digital newsroom environment and has a strong understanding of the power of social media. You have a detailed knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok and other social media platforms.
