We are looking for a talented, imaginative, and detail-oriented social media professional to build our capacity to communicate about what the d.school does and why we do it.

Overview of the role:
This is a 1 year fixed term position.
We are seeking an experienced and creative social media professional who can shape the strategy of the d.school’s social marketing efforts and provide visibility for the work done by our wide community of d.school educators. The Social Media Manager will oversee the planning, day-to-day delivery and assessment of the d.school’s social media communications on channels including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
The ideal candidate will bring knowledge and experience of how to engage, inspire, and move people to action. Candidates should have a strong bias toward creating impact, not just reaching large numbers of people through communications channels for the sole purpose of building an audience. Prior knowledge of the design world and/or education sector is a plus.
The Social Media Manager will report to our Director of Communications. This person will work closely with our Creative Director and Director of Community on editorial point of view, and will collaborate with a creative editorial team and public relations professionals.
We are looking for someone who can dive right in and bring their expertise to bear in areas where we don’t have it, and also adapt their creative output to the voice, tone and brand ethos of the d.school.
Your responsibilities include:
- Develop communication deliverables in an area of expertise or for a unit or a complex program.
- Develop complex communications for various content delivery channels.
- Develop and design complex materials according to defined requirements using software applications and mediums.
- Work with vendors to obtain information to evaluate quality, process, and costs to support vendor selection.
- Maintain knowledge by attending webinars, conferences, networking etc. to remain at the forefront of current industry standards, trends and technology.
- Contribute to the development of communication strategy for the unit or program.
- Analyze data and curate illustrations, photos, and pictures for assignments.

Additional responsibilities include:
- Define marketing strategies and deliver a social media plan across all platforms.
- Write social media content and manage the production of content by external freelancers, interns and students.
- Ensure a strategic and consistent voice that expresses the d.school’s mission and supports our values of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Support d.school educators and stakeholders by providing visibility of their work on social media, including crafting messaging, covering events, sharing best practices and more.
- Define and continue to refine a process for d.school stakeholders to share content and plan for social promotions of their work.
- Create and place paid targeted ads on our channels to acquire new customers and conversions.
- Utilize influencer marketing and build relationships through audience engagement.
- Create and deploy strategies for audience building and connection.
- Analyze data and monitor campaign performance and deliver reports in order to refine social strategy.
Education & Experience (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Education & Experience (Desired)
- 5-7 years experience in a professional communications role
- Previous social media and growth marketing experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal communications groups across campus.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex materials and communicate information in a manner easily understood.
- Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work with high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Desired)
- Strong writing, editing and curation skills
- Excellent communication skills; this position is a liaison to many teams
- Strong program management skills
- Experience with social management platforms such as Sprout Social, Trello and LinkedIn Campaign Manager
- Visual design and media capture skills are a plus (at minimum, capturing short videos and manipulating visuals and photos for small tweaks)

Pay Range:
The expected pay range for this position is $99,000 to $122,000 annually.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
