General Statement of Duties
The Forsyth County Department of Social Services is seeking a Social Work Program Manager for it’s Family & Children’s Division. The Program Manager is responsible for providing leadership and management for Child Welfare services within the Forsyth County Department of Social Services Family and Children’s Division. The desired candidate will work on a managerial team and provide direct oversight of supervisors of various Child Welfare Services.
The primary focus for this position will be Daytime Intake Team and After Hours Team.
Distinguishing Features
The desired candidate is an experienced manager in the field of child welfare with the ability to demonstrate superior communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The desired candidate will identify programming and staffing needs and ensure child welfare policies, regulations, and standards are implemented. The desired candidate will be able to analyze and improve child welfare and trauma informed practices based on continuous quality improvement standards. The desired candidate will have a working knowledge of Child Welfare policy and provided supportive supervision and monitoring to ensure compliance within all mandated standards. The desired candidate will also provide stellar interpersonal skills to support and create effective community partnerships and build upon a positive organizational culture within the Division.
The desired candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
– Working knowledge of methods and principles of Child Welfare casework practice,
supervision, performance management, leadership & training;
– Considerable knowledge and ongoing practice of social work principles, techniques &
practices;
– Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems in addition to treatment
options and community resources to alleviate issues;
– Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies that govern social work
programs specifically within Child Welfare;
– Ability to apply social work practice to specific casework and community problems;
– Ability to express and communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and professionally;
– Ability to collect, analyze, and utilize data to support performance management; and
– Ability to action plan and execute work effectively.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of social work or counseling experience, two of which was in a supervisory capacity; or
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which was in a supervisory capacity; or
A Master’s degree in a counseling field and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which was in a supervisory capacity; or
A four year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and five years of social work or counseling, two of which was in a supervisory capacity; or
Graduation from a four-year college or university and six years experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, group work, or community organization.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
