Description of Work
This position will be part of the Adult & Family Services Section. The social worker provides short-term assessment, crisis intervention, employment related coaching, and information and referral services to families experiencing crisis, emergency, financial, and employment related situations that could lead to destitution. The social worker promotes parental, financial, and personal responsibility, and provides assistance and support to assist families in alleviating barriers and crisis situations that could impede their achievement of self-sufficiency. Worker utilizes a structured interview process to assess the social, economic, physical, mental, and emotional state of the client, identify barriers to self-sufficiency, as well as identifying their strengths. The worker works with the client to develop a plan to alleviate their crisis and helps them realize their own potential to handle and avoid crisis in the future through assistance, support, and education. Duties include but are not limited to assessing problems; identifying needs; developing service plans; developing professional customer/social worker relationships; and providing services to alleviate crisis situations. The worker must have excellent organizational, relationship-building, coaching, communication, time management, and assessment/interviewing skills. Worker must have the ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting and maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with team members, customers, agency staff and community professionals.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERENCES: Strongly prefer candidates with a social work degree, MSW, or a BSW degree with social work experience.
