Description
This position works closely with Child Support Services to provide services to noncustodial parents court ordered to pay child support. The Social Worker provides ongoing case management to assist with increasing employability, conducting assessments and reducing employment barriers. They will provide a full range of services to applicants to meet their employment and training needs, including assessments, referral to jobs and job training programs, job development contacts and placement services. The Social Worker will serve as a customer advocate helping customers navigate various programs and employment opportunities. This individual is responsible for employment outreach, maintaining an employer database and recruiting employers willing to hire non-custodial parents with multiple employment barriers. Duties include assisting with the criminal expungement process, navigating educational opportunities, coordinating mental health and substance misuse services, conducting home/site visits, addressing theneeds of both vulnerable children and their parents, accessing community resources and other duties as assigned. They will also work closely with the coordinator of the fatherhood and parenting programs. The Social Worker will combine Signs of Safety practice with currently implemented case management practice. They will attend community events, facilitate individual or group meetings utilizing various platforms.
Must have excellent facilitation, organizational, communication, time management, financial management, employment education, and varied interviewing techniques. Requires the ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team setting while maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with team members, customers, agency leaders and community professionals. Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation. Must possess and be able to demonstrate intermediate level of personal computer skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
- Demonstrated skill in career counseling, teaching interviewing skills and techniques, or matching applicant skills to job openings.
- Demonstrated skill in analyzing and interpreting data, problem-solving and preparing written documentation.
- Demonstrated skill in the use of a variety of software applications to input and retrieve program data.
- Demonstrated skill in providing customer service and communicating orally or in written form to a variety of audiences.
Demonstrated ability to gather information from employers, or customers with diverse backgrounds, on job tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience
: Bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERENCES: Prefer applicants with social work experience in a Department of Social Services and a Human Services Degree; or social work experience in a human services setting and a Human Service Degree; BSW or MSW Degrees, or a human services related master’s level degree.
