General Statement of Duties
The Forsyth County Department of Social Services is seeking to hire a full-time Social Worker. The Social Worker – Post Adoption Specialist will provide post adoption support services to children and families who have finalized the adoption process. This individual must be able to assess the requests and needs of the families to provide adequate information and referrals to ensure permanence of the adoptive placement. This position will also support direct access for families as well as State Consultants, partnering agencies, etc. when dealing with Post Adoptions Financial Matters.
Completes Adoption Subsidy tasks to include, but not limited to, processing non-recurring fees, replacement check requests, State adjustment requests, verification letters, and vendor requests. This position will additionally be responsible for maintenance and auditing needs of the Adoption subsidy records.
The primary hours of work are from 8:00am until 5:00pm but flexibility in scheduling is needed to meet the needs of the families served and the mandated time frames.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work or;
Master’s degree in Counseling or;
Four-year degree in a Human Service field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to Social Work or Counseling and six months of Social Work or Counseling experience or;
Four-year degree and one year of experience in Counseling or in a related Human Service field which provides experience in techniques of counseling, casework, group work, or community organization.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking candidates are a plus.
Valid driver’s license required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is to address financial matters and support related to Post Adoption services. This position requires independent decision making, professional judgment, intercommunity collaboration, and knowledge of local resources. The person in this role must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of people from various socioeconomic backgrounds and a variety of mental capabilities.
The Post Adoption Specialist will complete Adoption Subsidy tasks to include, but not limited to, processing non-recurring fees, replacement check requests, State adjustment requests, verification letters, and vendor requests. This position will additionally be responsible for maintenance and auditing needs of the Adoption subsidy records. This position will additionally aid Sr. Social Workers in some tasks and duties as needed. Other duties as directed.

Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.
