Position Description
As a Software Asset Management Analyst, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities during specific timeframes:
- First 30 days
- Familiarize with essential software information repositories and procurement activities.
- Demonstrate essential analytics skills and competency with Excel operations.
- Acquire basic understanding and navigation of ServiceNow Requests and related tasks.
- Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Within 60 days
- Perform simple and intermediate software renewals and new orders.
- Demonstrate user account management capabilities and SAM skills, such as license reconciliation.
- After 90 days to 1 year
- Demonstrate familiarity and navigation of Flexera Software Asset Management (SAM) tool platform and performing queries and running reports.
- Ongoing
- Work within a team environment to perform SAM with a focus on cost, control, compliance, and business objectives. Serve as a software licensing expert and analyze Information Technology (IT) vendor contracts and license terms.
- Collaborate with IT and non-IT team members to oversee software asset procurement and management. Enhance the scope and quality of license data, utilizing it for compliance reporting and improving software discovery tools and data collection.
- Support software compliance audits and other projects. Promote continuous improvement and best practices.
- Support, communicate, and uphold the mission, values, and culture of Applied Medical. Learn Information Technology Business Processes.
- Understand and capture entitlements and essential terms from contracts and related documents. Identify opportunities to optimize software usage and reduce costs.
- Configure, manage, and report using Software Asset Management (SAM) tools and software asset repository. Conduct software compliance reviews and monitor for compliance risk and savings opportunities.
- Maintain and update SAM policies, including entitlement and deployment processes. Manage project tasks and deliverables related to SAM processes across teams.
- Prepare licensing and optimization information for negotiation and execution of agreements. Coordinate efforts to review and procure enterprise software assets.
- Provide day-to-day support for license and software assets management, ensuring requests are fulfilled. Collaborate with IT teams to provide financial data for budgeting, cost allocations, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Assist IT teams in troubleshooting and resolving licensing-related issues. Communicate effectively with management about the software license estate and effective license positions.
- Act as a point of escalation for challenges, concerns, and ideas. Champion the team within the larger Corporate IT Organization.
- Serve as a point of contact for software vendors and resellers, fostering vendor relationships. Participate in process improvement initiatives within the IT Department.
- Adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands, demonstrating attention to detail.
- Exhibit self-motivation and multitasking abilities while providing top-tier customer service and prioritizing the quality of the customer experience.
Position Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of IT or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Minimum of three years of IT experience, including at least 2 years of IT Asset Management (ITAM) and SAM experience.
- Strong understanding of licensing information and research methods for Microsoft products.
- Thorough understanding of SAM and ITAM principles, policies, procedures, and workflow.
- Experience in managing enterprise software licensing agreements and contracts.
- Proficiency in various software licensing models.
- Ability to create and maintain software license, contract, and financial reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot; advanced functions, such as Vlookup and IF; macros, and proficiency with other Microsoft Office tools and Visio.
- Knowledge of the software industry and current trends.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Methodical, detail-oriented, and organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships.
- Capacity to manage multiple activities and adapt to changing priorities.
- Self-starter with a quick learning curve and ability to take the initiative.
Preferred
The following skills and attributes are preferred:
- Proven experience in managing Microsoft Enterprise Agreements and Volume Licensing Agreements.
- Strong understanding of other major software vendors, particularly SAP.
- Proficiency with Software Asset Management (SAM) tools, particularly Flexera.
- Proficiency in ServiceNow.
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.
- Possession of a relevant industry certification from the International Association of IT Asset Managers (IAITAM), such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM).
- Experience in technology procurement and contract review and management.
Benefits
The base compensation range for this role is $80000 – $100000 / year for the position in California. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries in California based on the date of this job posting.
