Software Developer II – ArcGIS Enterprise (Raster and Imagery)

As a software engineer, you will work with our cross-functional global team of software engineers, product engineers, designers, product managers, and release engineers. You will be actively involved in enhancing the capability of the ArcGIS Enterprise platform from feature inception to delivery, using bleeding edge technology.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain the operational components to support ArcGIS Image Server and ArcGIS Raster Analytics Server as containerized micro-services
  • Design, develop, and maintain frameworks and SDKs for in-house teams and external developers to consume our APIs
  • Follow industry-standard design patterns and development methodologies to build distributed, scalable software
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve workflows around build, test, and deployment of cloud native applications
  • Work with product engineers to diagnose and resolve root causes of incorrect software behavior, performance issues, and failures
  • Work in an agile environment to build and ship software of the highest quality by working effectively with members of various software development teams

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience as a back-end systems engineer, building cloud native commercial software
  • Excellent working experience with C++ programming
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, or other cloud computing platforms
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Good understanding of the web, REST, HTTP, networking, security, scaling, and cloud native architecture
  • Excellent problem-solving, design, development, and debugging skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management, prioritization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and constantly evolving agile environment
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills and contribute to producing quality commercial software
  • Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work with non-trivial software development projects
  • Firm understanding of large scale distributed computing systems
  • Experience with C++11 and modern C++ style and idioms
  • Good understanding of Linux, bash, and shell scripts
  • Experience with more than one cloud computing platform for example Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and more (certification is a big plus)
  • Hands-on experience with provisioning cloud infrastructure using APIs
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and cloud provisioning tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Knowledge of Esri products or similar GIS/spatial software
  • Prior experience with software development and release of commercial software products
  • Experience with Agile software development using Scrum is a plus
  • Master’s in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field, depending on position level

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is $93,600 – $156,000
