Software Development Engineer in Test

The Microsoft Applied Sciences Group incubates disruptive technologies for Microsoft’s next-gen Windows and Device products and is working on several exciting projects that will shape how computers and other devices perceive the user and the user’s environment. Operating as a startup within the company, this team works closely with several research and product teams to bring compelling new experiences to the market.

The Applied Sciences Group is growing, and we have an exciting opportunity for a talented Software Development Engineer in Test to drive and lead the testing of state-of-the-art AI algorithms for specific and general-purpose silicon on next generation devices and operating systems. This is a hands-on role that will provide collaboration opportunities throughout the organization. You will be contributing to the quality of new stuff to make sure it is ready to delight the customers.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) software industry or internship experience
    • OR equivalent experience or capabilities.
  • 1+ year scripting experience with languages like Python or PowerShell.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building test procedures to accurately assess new software releases
  • Experience designing and implementing automated testing processes
  • Ability to collate data and compile test reports
  • Experience setting up, updating and maintaining test labs

Software Quality Engineering IC2 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,400 – $151,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,300 – $165,400 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the champion of quality, find issues before customers do and participate in debugging and troubleshooting sessions.
  • Manual testing of driver packages on various SoCs to assess the quality of various audio and camera AI effects
  • Write automated tests to drive end user workflow testing
  • Write and maintain automated regression and release test suites
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining test lab
