Software Development Manager

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Software Development Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Herndon, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton’s Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA’s customers. As part of the modernization program, the Software Development Manager will maintain the vision for software development in alignment with the CSM program and ensure that this vision is adequately addressed and implemented consistently across all Project teams and efforts for which the manager is responsible.

Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Primary responsibilities include technical leadership for system and software delivery of several software projects within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)-based team structure.
    • Responsible for resource management, schedule, and quality of software projects deliveries.
    • Responsible for the direct supervision/management of agile team staff, to include overall management and oversight of delivering modernized services via multiple teams.
    • Creates standard project management guidelines and software development processes across all project teams.
    • Acts as line manager for agile teams: responsible for conducting employee performance reviews, timesheet reviews/approvals, career guidance, and travel expense approvals, among other administrative tasks.
    • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves team deficiencies.
    • Collaborates with all shared teams within and outside the program to ensure dependencies are communicated and met to meet project commitments and goals.
    • Understands system and software requirements to ensure software compliance standards are addressed by agile teams.
    • Develops and recommends corrective actions and process improvements as necessary.
    • Extensive experience engaging in customer interactions, delivering project updates and briefings to the leadership.
    • Participates in customer planning sessions and project implementations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 10-12 years’ of experience or Master’s Degree and 8-10 years’ of experience.
  • Five (5) years technical lead/management experience with software engineering projects.
  • Prior experience as a Software Development Manager or a Project Manager in the area of Software Development.
  • Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, implementation, test, integration, and maintenance.
  • Experience supporting a system implementation program using agile methodologies.
  • Experience with application lifecycle tooling, including those related to agile project management, version control, continuous integration, code scanning, automated testing, and issue tracking.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to prepare briefings, proposals, and similar documents.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience supporting the Department of State (DOS).
  • Experience with SAFe Methodology on a program/project.
  • Holds a SAFe certification.
  • Must have a current, active Secret (or higher) clearance. Interim clearances are acceptable.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 – $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
