Responsibilities

Come be a part of one of the most talented teams at IGT and help us deliver exciting and challenging new software features.

As a member of the Game Platform Engineering team, you will be responsible for helping us deliver new features that enable world-class games on the IGT Ascent platform. The software you will be working on is the beating heart of casino and lottery gaming machines, managing everything from metering and configuration to systems interfaces using industry standard protocols. Because of the wide scope of responsibility for this software system, you will have lots of opportunity to work on new and exciting features as well as help us to improve and modernize existing components.
Candidates should be self-motivated, open to learning new technologies as well as sharing their knowledge with others, and always looking for the best technical solutions to complex problems. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of the C++ and C# programming language, and able to utilize the latest language features to produce stable and performant code. Since our team sits at the heart of the Ascent platform, candidates should be strong communicators and able to interface and build relationships with people in other departments including Hardware/Electrical Engineering, Game Studios, Product Assurance, Compliance, Customer Service, Operations, Production, and other Engineering departments.

Responsibilities:
• Design, code, unit test and debug software
• Support or conduct technical analyses to design and implement machine software, software applications or software tools that achieve the desired functionality
• Execute software engineering / technical assignments that involve technical analysis/programming
• Participate in software peer code reviews
• Write or participate in code documentation
• Work with engineering managers/technical leads and other immediate team members on product designs
• Work is subject to supervisory oversight and review by project leader/senior members of the staff

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent degree program
• 5+ years of experience in C++ software development. C#, .NET, cloud, and Linux experience is a plus
• Knowledge of XML Schema and Interface Description Language (IDL)
• Time management skills
• Proficiency in software engineering design processes
• Knowledge of version control management systems (Perforce and/or Git)
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI)
• Problem-solving skills
• Proficient in English
• Position is based in Reno, NV

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in modern C++ techniques (C++17)
• Experience in C# 5
• Experience in .NET 4.8
• Experience in cloud and/or Linux

At IGT, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $53,800 – $129,500. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.

Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses .
