The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineer, Guidance Navigation & Control to join our team in Kent, WA.
This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization, specifically the Satellite Mission Software team.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience designing and developing flight software and/or complex physics-based simulations and algorithms. You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of software and Guidance Navigation & Control (GNC) engineers to develop GNC software and integrate into vehicle flight software.
This position requires motivated, self-learning individuals who are able to balance rapid development with high software quality assurance. You will work within an Agile team to design, develop, integrate, and validate flight GNC software while coordinating closely with both GNC and Flight Software teams.

Position Responsibilities:
- Support full-cycle development of Guidance Navigation & Control (GNC) software using Julia including requirement analysis, software architecture, design, coding, unit testing, integration, and formal qualification
- Support integration of Julia code into C++ flight software
- Support optimization of software to run on target hardware and develop test campaigns and metrics to validate and track performance
- Embed with both GNC and Flight Software (FSW) teams and facilitate ongoing communication and coordination between these two teams
- Support GNC engineers in developing simulation frameworks and algorithms while upholding high software level of rigor to meet mission software quality assurance requirements
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited university in e ngineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 5 or more years of software development experience in C++ using object-oriented design methods
- Experience working to develop software for a GNC solution or similarly complex physics-based application
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience developing scientific algorithms or simulations using Julia, Python, C++, and/or MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience in high reliability aerospace vehicle real-time flight software
- Experience with avionics control algorithms, search algorithms and math libraries, telemetry and command handling.
- Experience with modern Continuous Integration/Continuous Development pipelines for software development
- Experience in creating software development tooling, processes, and procedures.
- Experience with configuration management tools and procedures such as GitHub
- Hands-on experience with hardware interfaces, embedded processor architectures, I/O device drivers and board support packages.
- Working understanding of satellite GNC concepts (orbital mechanics, control theory, etc.)
- Familiarity with unix-based real time operating systems
- Proficiency in design and implementation of multi-threaded real-time applications; use of TCP/IP protocols and user/kernel level OS abstractions.
- Proficiency in C++
- Proficient in test-driven development

Summary pay range:
Experienced $112,200 – $151,800
Senior $130,900 – $177,100
