Software Engineer II – Azure Quantum Services

As a Software Engineer II – Azure Quantum Services in the Quantum Software Platform team, you will contribute to our Azure Quantum software stack. You will work within the Azure ecosystem to build scalable, robust solutions to help customers understand, scope, and solve a range of scientific and technical problems using cutting-edge methods that span cloud supercomputing and emerging quantum hardware. You will build upon your current skills at cloud service engineering and learn about quantum software technologies as you go. This role offers flexibility to work from home up to 50%, while spending the balance of your time interacting with peers in our Redmond office.

Qualifications:
Required/ Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in building or maintaining in cloud services on the Azure platform

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience building cloud services on the Azure platform.
  • Prior experience building web UI using modern toolkits such as React.

Software Engineering IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 – $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 – $198,600 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • You will work with internal and external partners to determine user requirements for a set of features and define development plans.
  • You will develop components of the Azure Quantum software infrastructure to enable increasingly advanced quantum software workloads.
  • You will contribute to the architecture and design to create reliable Azure Quantum services.
  • You will build software infrastructure and tools in support of scalable quantum computing, such as CI/CD (Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment) pipelines, test automation, and container-, VM (Virtual Machine) -, and HPC (High Performance Computing) -based compute pools.
  • You will maintain operations of live service on a rotational basis.
