Minecraft Engineering Systems is looking for a Software Engineer II to join our Test Automation team who supports our team in shipping high quality releases via Continuous Delivery. We are looking for someone with experience building pipelines and cloud services. Your customers will be the engineers building Minecraft, and you’ll need to be passionate about keeping their tooling easy-to-use and reliable. In this role, you will be ensuring the quality of one of the most popular and long-lived games in the world, across a wider set of platforms than practically any other software in the world!

Qualifications:
Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 1 + years of experience using git
  • Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling or build/test infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience building services in some cloud, e.g. AWS or Google. Azure.
  • Experience with DevOps/Quality tooling such as Azure pipelines and Azure DevOps, or equivalents from other DevOps ecosystems, e.g. Jenkins, TeamCity, Bamboo, GitHub actions.
  • Experience with tooling ecosystem for Android, MacOS/iOS, PlayStation or Nintendo.
  • 1+ years of experience developing in modern C++.

Software Engineering IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 – $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 – $198,600 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with appropriate stakeholders to determine requirements for a set of features.
  • Learning test automation scripts, frameworks and services. Independently figuring out how to solve problems at hand. Code reviewing script changes for teammates.
  • Participating in incident support rotations and monitoring Slack for help requests (during reasonable business hours), helping others, performing incident root-cause analysis.
