Description:The GMD Element develops, integrates, tests, fields, and sustains strategic missile defense capabilities to protect the homeland against current and projected future strategic missile threats or attacks. The GMD Element has been the principal capability for the defense of the homeland against rogue ballistic missile threats. The GMD Element uses multiple sensors, communications systems, fire control capabilities, and interceptors to detect, track, and destroy intermediate- and long-range ballistic missiles during the midcourse phase of flight.
The ideal candidate will lead the team and provide subject matter expertise for the GWS Fire Control (GFC) product. This leadership role will include requirements decomposition, modeling, design, implementation, integration and verification of various product lines within the GFC software.
Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
* Team lead for multiple GWS agile teams
* Supports SRS decomposition and test specification for engagement planning services
* Supports internal GWS interfaces for threat state and other teams
* Supports GFC execution lead and architect by providing technical solutions for threat state design, development and integration.
* Supports GFC architect and chief engineering office in providing technical expertise and execution status to internal leadership, MDA customers, and external stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhD, or 13 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or Java.
Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
THIS POSITION WILL BE ON SITE IN COLORADO SPRINGS.
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD secret level; and a minimum of an interim secret clearance will be required to start.
Desired Skills:
Experience, interest, and aptitude in developing software focused on command and control threat tracking, track correlation, discrimination services, and reporting services
Experience, interest, and aptitude in complex missile defense algorithms, associated software implementation, discrimination techniques, track correlation, and track processing.
Interest and aptitude in designing and implementing software to solve complex algorithmic math and physics-based engagement planning problems.
Interest and experience in using math and physics software applications
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
Proven communications skills with armed services & government customer.
Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definition.
Development utilizing a Linux based development environment.
Knowledge of various scripting languages and tools: Python, MATLAB, etc.
Familiarity with Agile software development practices.
Experience with Missile Defense Systems and Sense & Warn based systems.
Experience working on CMMI Level 3+ programs.
Security + Certification
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9×80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $105,000 – $201,100. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
