The Boeing Company’s Open Source Program Office is seeking Software Engineer (Virtual) Entry or Associate Level to join our development team based out of Orlando, FL. Our mission is to champion open source engagement across the enterprise and deliver a world class open source management experience with flawless compliance.

The ideal candidate will understand open source software development, as well as experience with a variety of programming languages and technologies. They will also be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Gathers information to support software project management.
  • Documents deployed processes and tools and collect metrics.
  • Supports software research and development projects.
  • Troubleshoots basic software issues.
  • Works under close supervision.

This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and will not require the selected candidate to relocate.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited course of study in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree by December 2023
  • Experience designing/developing application API’s with REST services
  • Professional experience developing with object-oriented programming
  • Experience with Agile and Scalable Agile methodologies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Passionate interest of latest trends in open source software development
  • Experience working with Software Composition Analysis (SCA) tools like X-Ray, Black Duck, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with Automate Software Composition Analysis (SCA) through a combination of COTS, open source, and in-house tooling
  • Integration with various legacy enterprise tools and data sources to automate open source and third-party software management
  • Experience in creating a common repository for third party software and automate license and security compliance and reporting
  • Have or have held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
  • The highest level U.S. security clearance you currently hold or have held in the past 24 months

Typical Education/Experience:

Entry (Level 1)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Summary pay range Entry (Level 1) $64,600 – $101,200

Summary pay range Associate (Level 2) $79,050 – $123,050
