The vehicle management software team is looking for an experienced software engineer to contribute to new development software designed to fly both our current platforms and the aircraft of the future.
The responsibilities for this role will include software development spanning across many avionics services, ground station development, and mission systems software technologies. This position will also include scrum master responsibilities, leading the team through agile development processes. The scrum master is intended to drive progress through strong team coordination, collaboration, and planning.
Scrum Master Responsibilities:
• Coaching the team on agile best practices / holding the team accountable for good agile practices
• Ensuring the team is continuously improving (monitoring metrics, holding retrospectives)
• Collecting and monitoring team metrics and progress to ensure the team is executing successfully.
• Facilitating/Ensuring the team holds daily stand ups and regular planning meetings
• Facilitate both internal team and cross-team communication
Software Responsibilities
• Agile development including system/software design, code, integration, and flight test
• Integration on a multitude of host systems, such as live assets of varying capability and structure simulated systems, and laboratory environments that include constructive simulations, physical hardware, and system simulations.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college in a relevant field of study; or equivalent experience
• Agile software development experience (i.e. SAFe, Kanban, Scrum)
• Experience with C and/or C++
• Experience with Linux or RTOS and associated development toolchains
• Developing software for embedded systems
• Experience designing, testing and debugging complex software applications with many interdependencies and interfaces
Must be a US citizen. This position requires special access and a Secret clearance updated within the last 5 years to be considered.
Desired Skills:
Technical Skills –
• Experience working in agile development environment (preferably with a leadership role, e.g. scrum master or PO)
• Experience using other agile software development tools and methodologies (e.g. Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Confluence, etc.)
• Experience in scripting languages (e.g. python)
• Experience integrating hardware and software
• Experience with automated test methodologies
• Experience with Systems Engineering processes (requirements development, use cases, data flows, etc.)
• Experience with embedded real-time systems
• Experience with Vehicle Management System (VMS) architectures
• Experience working with safety/flight critical software development processes (e.g. MIL-STD-516C, MIL-HDBK-1797, AC-17-01)
Other Skills –
• Ability to build and maintain relationships and collaborative effectively with others
• Oral and written communication skills
• Strong decision making and judgment skills

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York City is $98,800 – $186,100. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
