The National Solutions Group at Leidos has an opening for a Software Engineer to be a part of our program Ratchet Orphans. The successful candidate will be required to execute, refine, and supervise the processes and procedures of Software Engineering operations in a customer environment throughout the operational lifecycle of mission applications. The candidate will be required to possess demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to work constructively and collaboratively across multiple functional and technical areas to achieve a positive impact on program goals and business results.
Qualified applicants must be able to perform efficiently under dynamic conditions and skillfully navigate continually evolving priorities, facilitating reliable and consistent mission application data processing in a complex computing environment. Applicants will exercise comprehensive technical assessment and incident escalation procedures in order to meet or exceed prescribed Performance Requirements Standards (PRS). Through the application of deep technical and critical thinking skills, expert knowledge, and highly innovative approaches to resolving complex problems, the ideal candidate will be integral to ensuring the uninterrupted performance and stability of mission processors and their associated IT infrastructure. Though this is an 8×5 position, applicants must be available to provide occasional out-of-band call-in support as required.
As a Senior Software Engineer you will:
- Design, develop, and implement AWS cloud-based applications using a variety of modern technologies
- Develop, implement and document technical solutions through deep analysis and understanding of impact to the end-product/solution
- Enforce adherence to prescribed incident and problem management or ticket escalation processes to quickly and proactively resolve system outages as appropriate
- Manage out-of-band call-in support requests and execute other related supporting duties as required
- Coordinate and collaborate with teammates, customers, and external stake holders as required to ensure timely restoral of mission applications and associated functions to a fully operative state
- Collaborate with team members from all parts of the development lifecycle, from development to operations, solving technical challenges, and providing and receiving guidance and mentorship
- Design a process of build, test, integration, and deployment of software baselines using best practices and customer specifications, including definition of processes, metrics and automation
- Research, design and develop complex enterprise-level web applications built on relational and unstructured databases
- Transform complex customer requirements into working, maintainable solutions
- Cultivate technical competency throughout the team as well as customer satisfaction and confidence through the influencing and encouragement of innovative solution development that positively impacts program goals and business results
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance with a Polygraph
- Requires BS degree and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years software experience, with experience in an engineering lead role on software application projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Current DoD 8570.01m IAT-II or higher certification (e.g. Security+ CE)
- Strong customer service skills and customer relationship management experience to work with former and active duty Intelligence analysts
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodology, processes, and techniques
- Excellent organization, communication and writing skills, and have the ability to express yourself in technical debate with peers
- Excellent teamwork and collaborative skills, with the ability to lead and manage the effort of others when necessary
- Proven experience and proficiency with one or more of the following disciplines in an enterprise environment:
- Unix, Linux, and/or Windows based OS and application management
- Troubleshooting of complex and interconnected systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mission-specific technical knowledge and operations experience
- DevSecOps experience in AWS or other virtual environments
- ITIL v3 Foundation or Higher Certification
- Proven experience and proficiency with one or more of the following disciplines in an enterprise environment:
- Script development and implementation (e.g. PyThon, BaSH, XML)
- Usage and support of Enterprise Maintenance Management tool(s)

Pay Range: Pay Range $97,500.00 – $176,250.00
