Network Engineer Principal

Network Engineer position supporting a government mission focused team. Primary role is providing Network Engineering expertise for the design, integration, test, deployment and sustainment of strategic/tactical mission focused data acquisition, processing and forwarding capabilities supporting National policy and Warfighter decision makers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, enhance and support the client’s enterprise/mission network infrastructure.
  • Utilize thorough knowledge of the following platforms to ensure stable operations throughout the network:
  • LAN, CAN, WAN, MAN solutions (switches, routers, firewalls)
  • Network monitoring, troubleshooting, performance optimization and reporting
  • Wireless, video conferencing and IP-based voice solutions
  • Network protocols (routing, VLAN, VPN, port security)
  • Load balancing and WAN acceleration solutions
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure stable system configuration and maintenance support.
  • Execute advanced troubleshooting skills and tools to address network performance issues.
  • Establish and maintain customer configuration management and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • Related Bachelor’s and 12 or more years of related experience; or HS Diploma and 18 or more years of related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Associate’s, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for additional years of experience.
  • Related certifications may count towards years of related experience.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph required.
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification or higher.
  • Current CompTIA SEC+ or CCNA-Security certification or higher.
  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches.
  • Experience with VLANs, VPNs and routing protocols.
  • Experience supporting Data Center networks and applications (Nutanix and/or VMware).
  • Experience with using protocol analysis tools, such as Wireshark, for raw packet analysis is desired.
  • Experience with Cisco ASA, McAfee or Palo Alto firewalls a bonus.
  • Python/BASH shell scripting experience desired.

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

  • Travel to CONUS and OCONUS government and non-government locations may be required.

Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $144,000 – $198,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
