Software QA Tester

Purple Wave is actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software QA Tester to join our team and assist our transition from manual testing to automated testing using low code software tools. As a remote work eligible position, you will have the opportunity to participate in building and improving web applications in our open source technology environment. The Software QA Tester plays a vital role within Purple Wave. This position will test, debug, report and suggest detailed refinements for internal and external customer facing systems. Software QA Testers are expected to demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and written communication skills to satisfy the main duties of this profession.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive test plan outlining the testing scope, objectives, test cases, testing environment and resources required.
  • Design test scenarios to cover various usage scenarios, edge cases and user workflows.
  • Perform functional testing by verifying that the software meets requirements and test individual features to ensure they work as intended.
  • Perform manual testing where applicable and automate test cases using testing frameworks and tools.
  • Conduct regression testing to ensure that new code changes do not introduce new defects or break existing functionality.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of test cases, test plans, test results and any testing-related processes.
  • Undertake additional assigned duties as requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2 years of experience
  • Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks like Selenium, Mabl and the understanding of database and SQL – what other tools should we list
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Python, C# or scripting languages for test automation. – Unsure on languages
  • Understanding of SQL to query and manipulate databases for testing purposes.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Proficiency in both manual testing and automated testing utilizing frameworks.
  • Understanding of regression testing techniques to ensure new code changes do not break existing functionality.
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools and techniques such as load testing and stress testing.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to document defects, write test cases and collaborate with developers and other team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate knowledge sharing and contribute to team improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in company, department, and process, embracing a growth mindset and a willingness to learn new technologies and practices.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to provide and receive feedback constructively.

Working Settings:

  • Full-time Salaried Exempt, not eligible for overtime
  • Office hours are 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, Central Time zone, additional hours may be required depending on priorities
  • This position is remote work eligible within the United States.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation:

  • The salary varies based on experience and qualifications, but typically ranges from $55,000 to $80,000 per year. Salary paid bi-weekly.
  • Monthly Bonus Program – determined by the Company’s monthly revenue result and are paid on a “percent to plan” payout formula. (90% = $300, 100% = $600, 110% = $900, 120% = $1,200)
  • Monthly phone stipend in accordance with the Company’s cell phone policy, currently $120/month
  • Health, Dental, and Vision starting the first of the month after 60 days of employment
  • 401(k) plan with an employer match up to 4% starting the first day of employment
  • Company-paid Life Insurance benefit of $25,000 with options to add more through employee contribution starting the first of the month after 60 days of employment
  • Personal Time Off (PTO) annual amount of 120 hours which is prorated based on the number of days between the 60th day of employment and the end of the calendar year
  • Eligible to participate in the Restricted Stock Unit program following the completion of two (2) years of service.
