Position Summary:

This position is responsible to support the development of new industrial robotics technologies in an innovative and entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate with be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive QA and support plan for software development activities across several products and libraries. The scope will span from automated testing to hands-on manual testing. This position will augment the development team at all stages of the software development life-cycle including requirements analysis, high-level design, low-level algorithms, deployment, and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Work “hands-on” with industrial robotic systems
  • Develop and maintain industrial robotic domain knowledge
  • Collaborate effectively in a small team of software developers, domain experts, and roboticists
  • Execute independently and effectively on ill-defined problems where a specification may not exist
  • Develop an understanding of our software development processes
  • Formulate QA/test systems and processes to improve quality and velocity of software products
  • Master the use of several different exist software products
  • Work with developers to define DevOps, QA, and testing procedure/processes with emphasis on CI/CD automation
  • Implement various test levels (i.e. smoke screens, in-depth regression tests, functional hardware integration tests, etc.)
  • Develop and execute manual “hands-on” test procedures in a tight cadence with software developers
  • Develop and execute tests within simulated and real robotic environments
  • Work to reduce level of effort required in manual testing by driving test automation
  • Develop and coordinate with off-site manual testers
  • Gather internal and external user feedback (bug reports, features requests, issue replication/investigation)
  • Propose code changes, work with developers to implement bug fixes/improvements
  • Work with both ABB and Fanuc industrial robots

Core Qualifications:

  • Industrial robotics domain knowledge (ABB, Fanuc, welding, cutting, other fabrication processes) or similar experience with complex machinery in other domains
  • Experience developing and executing manual “hands on” test procedures
  • Experience with source control, collaboration, and continuous integration tools (e.g. Git, SVN, Azure DevOps, GitLab, etc.)
  • The innate desire to derive satisfaction from a job well done and to seek out challenging (and rewarding) tasks

Desirable Qualifications:

  • BS in computer science, computer / electrical / mechanical engineering or relevant experience
  • Experience with CI/CD YAML pipelines and automated testing
  • Experience with coded-UI tests (desktop and web)
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical knowledge helpful

  • Physical demands:Work is usually a mix of sedentary and walking. Use of the telephone is extensive. In the office there is minimal reaching, bending and lifting in relationship to documents and stored records. When at a customer facility, there will be lifting, reaching, bending, dragging, pulling and carrying of parts and equipment. This individual may have to walk long distances to reach the equipment within the customer’s facility.
  • Work environment: This individual may have to sit for long periods of time. The noise level is usually moderate. Traveling may be unplanned and immediate; hours may be irregular.

Wage Rate: $52,183.00- $96,911.00
