Position Description:

The Project Manager is the person whom Sun Light & Power’s clients will work with the most in the process of getting their system built. The Project Manager shapes our customer experiences once a system is purchased and is crucial to guaranteeing our customers remain Promoters. As such, a project manager needs to have exceptional communication and documentation skills as well as a good technical understanding of PV and/or ST systems, how to build them, and the standards that regulate them, such as the National Electrical Code.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret contracts to assure compliance; particularly labor compliance
  • Develop and review project schedules, cost estimates, BOMs (Balance of Materials), budgets, Scopes (of Work), standards and quotes from suppliers
  • Assure all items and materials are ordered in a timely fashion
  • Manage scope, subcontractors and internal resources (Engineering, permitting, etc.) to assure

cost, time, quality, and contract expectations are met.

  • Issue change orders as needed when changes to cost, timing or scope are made outside of our control and project contract allows.
  • Monitor positive cash flow of a project
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Attend Project Management, Design and Hand-off meetings
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Operations Coordinator to assure our work meets compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Work with Superintendents to ensure jobs are prepared for a quality build

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communications skills – both verbal and written
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • 5-to-7+ years solar project management and/or build experience preferred
  • Good leadership and people management skills
  • Strong knowledge of the NEC Code, Universal Building Codes and construction techniques
  • Ability to organize, utilize and motivate team members to successfully meet the construction schedule, which will result in completing the job on time and on budget, required
  • Experience reading, understanding and editing electrical and structural plans
  • PMI/PMP certification desired
  • Problem solving, implementing site-specific project modifications and ability to make quick, intelligent decisions important
  • Understanding of financial models and management of budgeting cash flow preferred
  • Negotiation/Mediation/Administration experience preferred
  • College Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Able to type at least 50 wpm

Compensation:

$75,000 – $90,000 annually, DOE.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
