Solar Technical Designer

The Solar Technical Designer position is an integral member of our growing US Project Design team. This individual is responsible for providing technical and operational support to the outside sales team. This is achieved by interacting daily with customers to create rapid, high quality, designs and quotes for proposed PV systems and commitment to providing a best-in-class customer experience.

Duties and responsibilities

– Design PV racking solutions for customers using the company’s proprietary software and AutoCAD LT

– Review technical requirements of proposals, share experience and advice for best system solutions, advise customer of conflicts and make recommendations of changes

– Produce quotes, construction layouts, and technical project documents

– Provide real-time technical support and solutions for our customers via both email and phone

– Work closely with the sales team and customers for all technical requests for the company’s product catalog

– Participate in weekly technical calls and Quality Checks with international team

– Strive to find new solutions and share ideas with the product development team

– Participate in trade shows, conferences, product demonstrations, and customer trainings

Requirements

Qualifications

– 2-year degree in a technical field or 3 years of direct solar experience.

– BA/BS a plus

– Technically inclined – computer design work using various software platforms

– Basic Engineering & Commercial Construction knowledge

– Ability to build strong relationships with customers and coworkers

– Ability to prioritize activities that achieve sales goals; time management skills

– Excellent communication skills via phone and email

– Self-driven, dedicated, problem solver

– Professional and positive demeanor

– Eager to learn and be a part of the renewable future

Working conditions

– Full time hybrid remote position (minimum of 25% in Matthews NC office) min 1 week per month

– Occasional travel such for training, team building, site visits, customer visits, and industry conferences

– Your Local Time Zone (8am-5pm)

Physical requirements

– No unusual physical requirements in daily job.

– Site visits will require the use of PPE and may involve climbing ladders or stair towers

– Conference attendance may require air travel and will require frequent standing and possibly long hour
