Position: Spanish Speaking Middle School Tutor – Brooklyn NY
Job Description: We are seeking multiple Spanish-speaking tutors to join our team and work as push in support for teachers at JHS 50, located at 183 S 3rd St, Brooklyn, NY 11211. The students will need to receive support in both middle school math and ELA. Starting on Monday, September 7th, tutors will work in-person Monday-Friday from 8:20am to 2:40pm, with a 30 minute break provided during the day. Tutors will not have sessions on the following dates due to conferences and holidays:
- September 25th
- October 9th
- November 7th
- November 9th
Qualifications:
- Must be able to speak fluent Spanish
- Previous experience as a math and ELA tutor in middle school settings is preferred
- Willingness to work as a team and support both teachers and students
- Strong communication skills required to collaborate with teachers and students
- Available to work the hours specified above Monday-Friday at the school site
- Dedication to supporting academic and personal success, particularly among minority and low-income students.
- Passion for educational equity and social justice
Responsibilities:
As an Education Champion, you will work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to provide the targeted support and interventions students need on any given day. You’ll be assigned to small group instruction and one-on-one tutoring, focusing on areas such as Math, Reading, and Writing. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring students have the rigorous and culturally responsive educational support they deserve.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive pay rate of $24/hr with the opportunity to earn $26.40/hr* with completion bonus.
- Education Champions are not paid during school breaks (Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.).
- Education Champions will be required to attend one 30-minute event per quarter and complete 5 minutes of asynchronous training per week.
