NATURE OF WORK:
Performs professional level work with responsibility for planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating special events hosted and permitted within the City of Orlando. The incumbent will be responsible for working with and the supervision of staff within the Special Events Division, as well as guiding staff on all special events seeking to be permitted by, or organized by, the city. Primary duties include approving preliminary event permits, and organizing and managing the needs for special events. The Assistant Division Manager will assist in managing the 18A process, finding creative ways to ensure successful events with a focus on safety and providing a great event experience. The incumbent will work with the Division Manager and staff to assist with partners that bring major events to the city. Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are essential for this role. Work is performed under the general direction of the Special Events Division Manager and performance is reviewed on a periodic basis through both formal and informal meetings and reports.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, business administration, public administration, or related field, and a minimum five (5) years of experience in advanced level management and administration required, and one (1) year experience working as a supervisor or other leadership capacity required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver’s license required. Polygraph and background check required.

  • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
  • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master’s degree; or
