General Summary
This Special Facility Manager position involves managing the daily operations of the multi-purpose 800 seat facility. Individual has administrative, management, budgeting, technical support, staffing and program responsibilities. Individual has frequent interaction with staff and general public.
Requirements and Job Specifications
Education Required: Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university.
Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Area of Study (major) Required: Theater Management or closely related field.
Certification(s) Required: Professional membership with NRPA and or comparable certification within 1 year of hire. First Aid & CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire.
License(s) Required: Valid LA driver’s license.
Years Relevant Work Experience: 3 years of experience in managerial/supervisory experience in a theatre management.

- Knowledge of municipal recreation management principles and procedures
- Ability to assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate Theatre and Arts related programs such as instructional clinics and skill-based classes

Functions and Duties
- Administers daily operation and general administration of the multi-purpose theater and cultural center, including business development, promotions, staff development, maintenance, and security.
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates all internal and external services for all scheduled events.
- Books, staffs, and provides technical expertise and support for all theater events.
- Coordinates through the Communications Department all public information, advertising, marketing, and promotion of facility programs
- Creates, plans, designs, and develops facility programs such as in-house productions, drama classes and workshops.
- Develops and maintains operating budget for the facility.
- Provides and maintains administrative records such as financial reports, attendance statistics, personnel documents and other reports as required.
- Utilizes highly technical equipment including but not limited to stage lighting, sound boards and related theatrical equipment.
- Coordinates through the Grants Department all funding opportunities and writing of proposals and grants to meet funding programs/objectives.
Secondary Job Duties:
- Ensures ongoing training for all theater employees including, customer service, crowd control and technical equipment operations.
- Assists other BREC departments with special events.

Supplemental Information

2023 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
HEALTH INSURANCE: Comprehensive medical benefits including HMO, PPO, and Blue Saver (Qualified High Deductible High Savings Account) and options are provided through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana. Coverage is effective the first of the month, following two months of employment, a (2 month waiting period). Employee cost per month for HMO: $163.28 – employee only; $556.05 – employee & spouse or employee & dependent children; $895.83 – family. Employee cost per month for PPO: $349.22 – employee only; $907.92 – employee & spouse or employee & dependent children; $1,389.27 – family. Employee cost per month for Blue Saver: $36.38 – employee only; $151.41 – employee & spouse or employee & dependent children; $270.36 – family. BREC also offers voluntary insurance plans: Dental, Vision, and Supplemental Insurance (Accident, Cancer/Critical Care, Long and Short-term Disability, Term and Whole Life).
LIFE INSURANCE: All full-time employees are insured under a Group Term-Life Insurance policy through Equitable Life Insurance Company a subsidiary of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. Coverage is subject to decrease at age 65 and 70. There is no cost to the employee except for salaries more than $50,000 which are subject to the imputed income clause under the IRS regulations. Coverage is effective immediately.
RETIREMENT SYSTEM: BREC contributions to the City-Parish Employees’ Retirement System for each employee amount to 38.46% of salary. Employees contribute at the rate of 9.5%. Retirement contributions are tax deferred. Personal contributions are kept on account and refunded if employees leave BREC before their retirement. Additional benefit opportunities are available after 25 years through the DROP program. BREC also offers a Supplemental Retirement DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN through payroll deduction.
HOLIDAYS: BREC employees receive twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
SICK LEAVE: BREC employees accumulate sick leave at the rate of 100 hours per year the first five years they are employed; accrual of hours will increase based on the number of years of service, thereafter, up to 192 hours for 15 or more years. Employee is eligible to utilize leave after 30 days of continuous employment.
ANNUAL LEAVE: BREC employees earn annual leave at the rate of 100 hours per year the first five years they are employed; accrual of hours will increased based on the number of years of service, thereafter, up to 192 hours for 15 or more years. Employee is eligible to utilize leave after 90 days of continuous employment.
FULL-TIME STATUS: Upon completion of a six-month probationary periods and approval of supervisor, full-time status will be achieved.
